I was missing something and I'd been ramming my head against a wall for hours trying to figure out what, that and trying to not think about the one idea I had as to how to get past this little hurdle. I knew how to cast that and I'd tried to direct feelings of joy towards the pieces but got bupkiss for my efforts. They were sometimes a component in spells, sometimes a vital component such as with the Patronus. Maybe it's just negative emotions? But that doesn't make any sense, does it? Emotions are emotions. I postulated that it reacted to strong emotion, though my excitement didn't seem to have any effect on it. But it's obvious now that it was reacting to my anger. I hadn't been able to make it react since, I'd tried to work myself up into a rage again, but I can't really call on it like that. I almost thought it was a reflection, but as soon as I saw it, it flickered and faded. And midway through I noticed that the ectotite sample I had on my desk was producing a very faint light.
At least until a few hours ago when I lost my temper and had a bit of a rant. The only reason I still persist with it is because of stubborn pride. I'd been poking at it on and off for quite a while now and have little to show for it. People who are curious about stuff choose group together to share what they know or blitz the library to research the unknown. Students who want to show off a little can try creating objects with a number of spells or make cool displays with several spells fired together. I foresee a Club of Mystery and Invention being created somewhere down the line. The hardest part would be getting a working Vanishing Cabinet up there, everything after that is gravy once you’ve effectively created a teleporter between Earth and Moon. Honestly, I bet wizards could help colonize the Moon in just a few years. Phoenixes eat rainbows and plasma, good to know.
I’m a little shocked Drew hasn’t been to the Headmasters officer since that first time, wouldn’t Dumbledore want to touch base with him at least once a semester, since he has no other family and is under a very unusual situation (don’t want any Piddle repeats)?ĭon’t forget about getting a 9-5 office/government job that will bore you to tears while using none of what you learned in school.
